    Scott Moran

    Executive Director

    For over 25 years, Scott Moran has led and worked in progressive independent schools on both coasts, in roles including head of school, division director, math specialist, and classroom teacher. Rooted in the belief that children are born curious about the world, Scott's work centers around the ways in which educators at all levels and in all contexts can support that curiosity, extending it to the academic learning children need to do in school.

    Lisa Baker Horner

    Lisa moved to New York City in August of 1978 to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and was involved in the theatre world for several years. Children were born, which propelled her into another passion, teaching young children. Lisa found City & Country School in the summer of 1986, starting as an assistant teacher in the IVs. From then until now, her roles at C&C have included parent, teacher, Board member, Director of Admissions for 11 years and now a founding board member of the Caroline Pratt Center.  Also, Lisa is happy to add the role of grandparent of a City & Country School student for this upcoming school year!!

    AZ Jenkins

    AZ has spent her entire life in and around schools as the daughter of a math teacher and as a student, teacher, librarian, tutor, parent, trustee, and volunteer. She has a particular interest in early childhood and literacy and is involved in efforts to promote education in the Dominican Republic.

  • Fred Knecht

    Board Member 

    Fred Knecht has been involved with City and Country School and progressive education for over 25 years, and he is the father of two C&C graduates. Fred led the Board of Trustees of City and Country School as its president for many years, including during the establishment and growth of the school’s endowment, its acquisition of additional real estate, the expansion of its student body, and its reaccreditation with NYSAIS. Fred also chaired the school’s search committee for principal in 2016 and has been a long-standing member of its Audit Committee. He was elected Trustee Emeritus upon his retirement as Board president in 2016.  

    In his professional career, Fred worked for over 30 years as a corporate and securities lawyer in New York City. He served as the Deputy General Counsel and Executive Vice President of the Bank of New York Mellon until his retirement in 2020. Before that, he was a partner in the law firm, Covington & Burling; served as the General Counsel for Global Origination and Private Equity at Merrill Lynch; and was a Managing Director and the Head of Investment Banking Legal at Goldman Sachs. He began his legal career at the law firm, Sullivan & Cromwell. 

    Fred is a graduate of Tufts University and Stanford Law School.

    Frank Patti

    Frank serves as Principal at the City and Country School in the West Village. Prior to joining C&C, Frank worked as a Lower School teacher at the Collegiate School, Lower School Head/Dean of Faculty at the Hewitt School, and Lower School Principal at Milton Academy. Frank received a Master of Education from Bank Street Education and a Doctorate in Education Leadership from University of Pennsylvania. His dissertation research examined the efficacy of marketing and branding initiatives at independent schools in response to the 2007 economic downturn. Aside from school marketing and branding, Frank’s interests include large scale DEI initiatives, curriculum development and innovation, teacher development, and school communications. A Boston native, Frank lives in the financial district with his husband, two daughters, and chocolate lab Stella.

    Jennifer Sage

    Board Member & Executive Committee Member

    Jennifer Sage FAIA LEED is a graduate of City & Country School, parent of three former students, and long-time board member of the School. She attended Laguardia High School for art, received a BA from Harvard College, and earned an M.Arch from the Yale School of Architecture. After practicing for many years with Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, she formed her own firm with Peter Coombe. Together, the practice has completed a master plan, numerous design studies and supported much of the selective and ongoing renovation at City and Country School. For the last 30 years, award-winning Sage and Coombe Architects has developed a portfolio focused primarily on public and non-profit clients. 

    Jennifer has served as the VP for Design Excellence on the AIA Board and currently is co-chair of the Exhibitions Committee at the Center for Architecture where she serves on the board, having just completed a term as Board Chair. This fall she will serve on the Visiting Committee at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She has juried and taught at Yale, Harvard, Carnegie Mellon, UT Austin, RISD, and Catholic University where, for three years, she conducted an honors studio in Rome.

    Kate Turley

    An educator for more than four decades, the highlight of Kate’s career was leading City and Country School from 1999 to 2017. Under her stewardship, City and Country transformed into a campus encompassing seven brownstones and adjacent courtyards. C&C’s student body expanded as did the school’s fundraising to build an endowment, which included a fund specifically for supporting teachers’ professional development.

    Kate has been active with other New York City independent schools. She is currently a Trustee of the Lycée Français de New York. In June 2024, she completed five years on the Board of the Brooklyn Heights Montessori School. In addition to her current Board work, Kate co-chairs the Board of Directors for an early childhood dual-language program in the Bronx, La Escuela Comunitaria del Bronx, which welcomed its first students in Fall 2023. 

    Kate is delighted to be involved in supporting the exciting vision for the Caroline Pratt Center.
